GIU CLUBS

In GIU, there is a wide variety of clubs and activities available for students to join. Clubs are a great way for students to find where they belong in a social community and to find their niche among students with similar interests and goals.

Chess is a complicated game that requires strategy, careful thinking, and practice. By joining the chess club, you’ll have the opportunity to learn new strategies to beat your opponents and the opportunity to practice playing against other students, giving you a fun challenge. You may even get to participate in chess tournaments.

If you enjoy reading and want to make sure that a busy school schedule doesn’t prevent you from engaging with good literature, join a Battle of The Books Club. Book clubs are great for getting great book suggestions and keeping you accountable for keeping up with your reading. You’ll be able to engage in critical discussions of each book, allowing you to share your thoughts with other like-minded classmates.

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that is also recognized as an Olympic sport with a focus on kicking techniques. All skill levels are welcome to learn and practice. We practice kicking techniques, instruct defend-and-attack poomsae forms, compete in Olympic sparring, and attend Taekwondo tournaments. This club offers a safe community where people with varied skill experience can together train and improve both mental and physical health.

The purpose of the robotics club is for students to learn how to code and write commands for robots through play. By programming and controlling robots, students will step into the world of science, acquiring knowledge and skills that will be useful and applicable beyond the classroom.
STEM CLUB
STEM Clubs support the curriculum and provide opportunities for young people to have fun, be creative, and expand subject knowledge and awareness of the role these subjects have in the world around them. STEM Club utilizes a wide variety of methods, aptitudes, and skills to provide the best possible outcomes for its club members and club leaders.

Sogo is a traditional Korean dance performed with drums and sticks. Its name can be translated as “a small drum.” The dance is very dynamic. Vigorous and nimble moves representing scenes of combat and hunting merge with delicate and calm moves inspired by everyday life. The performers wear Hanboks – traditional Korean dresses

Model United Nations is an academic simulation of the United Nations where students play the role of delegates from different countries and attempt to solve real-world issues with the policies and perspectives of their assigned country. Students can attend Model United Nations conferences around the world and from the comfort of their own homes with online conferences. Conferences are offered for different academic levels

The Spelling Bee is a literacy programme that teaches primary children between ages 7 and 13, how to improve their spelling, increase their vocabulary, learn and understand word concepts and develop English usage which will help them all their lives.
